Coromandel Discovery is based in the small settlement of Coromandel town (pop.1600), an historic gold-mining town in the northern Coromandel Peninsula.  Getting to Coromandel town is simple - it's located approximately 2.5 hours by road from Auckland, 2 hours by ferry from Auckland, or we are an hour's drive north of Thames, and an hour's drive west of Whitianga.
Though only small, Coromandel town offers a great variety of accommodation, cafe's, restaurants (where you can sample our seafood), and there is plenty to do.  Staying 2 or 3 nights is highly recommended, enabling visitors to experience the Coromandel Coastal Walkway  tour, the Driving Creek Railway and Pottery, the Gold Stamper Battery, The Waterworks on the famous 309 Road, and other
tourist highlights.

Please note, we own and operate BREAKAWAY B&B.
